DRAGON PEARL
(TVPaint, Photoshop, Unity, Blender)

10 years ago, a tragedy occured, leaving a sole surviror. There is hope, however. Find the Dragon's Pearl and it will grant any wish. But what happens when the only person who can reach the pearl forgets what she was looking for in the first place? 

This is a 2D game demo involving great attention to detail and focused on storytelling. It involves animation cycles, background design and Unity coding. My main focus on how to tell a story without having the ability to use extensive animation.

I began the assignment by studying shape language to create an innocent, but active character, through triangles and roundness. However, I designed a background with dark elements, a gloomy world of fog and blood, highly contrasting with the bubbliness of my avatar, who joyfully hops around never concerned. A clear dichotomy in personality is visible, the idle state containing a transition between good and evil, innocent, and defensive, yin and yang, fitting in well with the designed Chinese background. These strong differences led to my audience being aware that there is a background story, hopefully stirring curiosity. While learning Unity, the classes provided were only enough to lay a shaky foundation, so I had to research C#, which I found myself enjoying. The bright vivid colors and the many textures brought the design together, a clear mark of my artistic vision implemented into the result.
